Today original Nintendo Nes games are thought to be outdated. Today we have wireless systems with real life graphics and you look back to Nes games and think they are obsolete. Mainly Duck Hunt. It was the first ever console shooter game with a light gun that could be hooked up to the controller slot. It was an instant classic. That and the fact it shared the same cartridge as the original Mario Brothers.

In the original Duck Hunt game for Nintendo there are three Game Modes. Shooting 1 duck, 2 ducks, or clay mode were you shoot flying clay plates before they hit the ground. In the Online Version of Duck Hunt you have the option of Shooting the annoying dog to replace clay mode. That is to compensate for how much Nintendo fans hate the Duck Hunt Dog.

The problem with Duck Hunt is that the game play gets boring really fast. You shoot two ducks and the dog shows the ducks shot or you miss and the dog laughs. It gets to the point where you will put it back in a drawer to build up dust for another 5-10 years.

The main reason to play Duck Hunt online is because it is free and does not require blowing in a cartridge to get it to work. You also do not need to mess with system and light gun cords. It is very convenient and will be a trip down memory lane. The controllers are simple also. Move the mouse or touch pad to aim the gun and left click to shoot. Enjoy!

In the 60's and 70's it was The Beatles vs Rolling Stones. In the 80's it was Lakers vs Celtics. In the 90's the topic that saw so many schoolyard arguments was indeed Mario vs Sonic. Who would win in a fight? Who would win in a race? Who cooks a better omelet? You name it, it was argued. There were no characters as recognised to children of the 90's as Sonic and Mario, with Sonic's "Q Score" (a rating that rates something based on it's popularity) even surpassing that of Mickey Mouse. With such results, it seemed obvious this rivalry wouldn't die out quickly.

Contrary to popular belief, Mario made his debut in the 1981 Donkey Kong game for the arcade. Although he was called "Jumpman" he looked exactly the same as the Mario that appeared in the first game with his name in the title "Mario Bros." This was a basic game that didn't scroll, and it required killing all the enemies in a "Phase" and then progressing to the next phase. In this age, it is hard to see the appeal of this game, but in it's time it was rather entertaining.

Mario's game that propelled him to the status of a household name was the first "Super Mario Bros" for the NES which is now the best selling video game of all time. This was the first side scrolling Mario game and it set a standard for all the 16 bit Mario games to come. While it was not the first side scrolling platformer, it was the first done well, and allowed other developers to copy the formula. For this reason, this game is hailed by many as the saviour of the video game industry as the industry was in a great deal of trouble before it's release.

Possibly more noteworthy, was Mario's transition into the 3d world. Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64 received perfect scores from countless professional review companies. It is still seen today as the best ever 3d platformer, and many have tried but failed to replicate the success of Super Mario 64.

Sonic's creators knew from the beginning that Sega needed a mascot for it's Genesis/Mega Drive system that could help market it's console to compete with Mario and the Super Nintendo. They looked at Mario and perceived him as stuffy and uninteresting and decided to tap into the younger generation who was after something "cooler" with more attitude. After many considerations including "Mighty the Armadillo" Sonic the Hedgehog was decided on and a team of 15 began work on what would be the first Sonic game, "Sonic the Hedgehog" for the Genesis/Mega Drive.

Popular opinion said Sonic didn't really hit his straps until the second game for the 16 bit console. In this his little sidekick Tails was introduced and collecting all the chaos emeralds saw Sonic transform into "Super Sonic" which was a yellow, super fast super strong version of the character.

Sonic's 3d games however have not seen the success of it's rival Mario. Sonic 3d Blast for the Genesis/Mega Drive was an average attempt, and it wasn't until the Dreamcast where we saw a 3d Sonic game that was really worth playing called "Sonic Adventure." However, since creating that formula that worked perfectly, Sega have made odd choices with games forcing you to play as Sonic's less entertaining sidekicks to access the fun Sonic levels. Sonic the Hedgehog on the 360/PS3 received awful reviews. Sonic and the Secret Rings for the Wii seems to be the only game since Sonic Adventure that has really got it right with Sega finally realising that what made the originals so fun, was Sonic's blistering speed.

Sega's decision to no longer create consoles has no seen the creation of the first game where Mario and Sonic can go head to head called "Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games." After selling about 1 million copies of this game, it is clear this rivalry is still alive and kicking. Many have no doubt thought back to those schoolyard arguments and thought "Finally! I can prove x is better than y!"

Whatever your opinion is, it's no doubt you haven't seen your last debate on the topic. Just remember when you're ready to rip someone's throat out, it's only a game.

The Nintendo Wii has definitely made its mark in home video gaming. Coming to two years after its launch, the consoles continue to be going great guns. This is a kid friendly racing game. Many are big turn offs with sexual, and violent usage. The various levels,and terrain, are fun to explore, with simpler navigation. Each area brings gamers new, and exciting obstacle challenges. Users can chose which character they would like to be. Adding a special pack, sold separately, gives players a feeling of riding one of these cars. A unique factor when a competitor goes off track they can go through water, and sand. If I remember correctly, depending where you land you'll notice the slowing of your racer. In water you'll see bubbles. Both a con and a helper is to race against the program. In the bad it often wins, but in the good you can gain awareness on how the track goes, learning to avoid most problems, and use your tools to win!

To some of the more hardcore gamers the Wii Fit may seem too explicitly like exercising to be enjoyable as a video game. There are still other fun active gaming options, such as the snow skiing game called We Ski, which uses the balance board as skis and the Wii remote and nunchuck as ski poles.

Another good active game for the Nintendo Wii is Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party. This game is available for several gaming systems, but the Wii version makes the game more active than the others. Beyond giving your legs a workout with the dance pad the Wii version adds hand gestures by using the motion sensing technology of the Wii remote and nunchuck. This makes it a fun dancing video game that is active gaming for the whole body.

Another option for more active Nintendo Wii video gaming is Rock Band, especially if you play the drums. Customer Review: A rare RPG gem in a sea of mundane.
Way before they went overboard on stupid gimmicks with Super Paper Mario, but after they learned their lessons on what worked and what didn't from Paper Mario, we have the Thousand Year Door. The pinnacle, in my opinion, of the Paper Mario series. I'll simply break the game down into bite-size chunks: Story: This is a far different story than the typical 'Bowser' is the main villian mythos. You are sent to a vastly different land that is the polar opposite of the bright and cheery Mushroom Kingdom. You are sent to investigate the disappearance of Princess Peach and the reason why she asked you to Rogueport to find a 'treasure.' The treasure is rumored to be behind a door that's been shut for a Thousand Years, sealed by seven crystal stars. The final end result of the story is something more deadly and terrifying than Bowser could ever be. Although he does make frequent appearances as comic relief. Sound/Music: Improving upon the previous title in every way, the game remixes old tunes and comes up with fresh new ones for almost every area. Nothing ever gets repetative and everything suits well to the area it plays for. The sounds are also top notch and don't detract from the overall presentation. Controls: After a few minutes of adjusting to the controls and literally being thrown into a battle 2 minutes of starting the game, you should slip right into a groove and have no complaints for the rest of the game. Gameplay: This game has it in spades. There is simply so much to do not only in the secret-encrusted city of Rogueport, but in all the individual areas and towns you will visit. There are so many badges, star pieces, hidden question blocks, trade sequences, help quests, side quests, and mini-games that you won't be bored for a long time. The difficulty of the game is on the moderate side, nothing that you can't complete with a small amount of time spent for level grinding, which is a good thing. Only downside is that some of the help quests can be a bit mundane and boring having you travel back and forth multiple times through the same areas to complete it. Beyond this gripe, which is purely optional and not intended to be completed to finish the game, this game is very innovative, genius, funny and good in all aspects. A highly recommended game for all RPG fans out there and Mario RPG fans in particular. Especially now since the Wii can play Gamecube games, there is no reason not to pick this up and pop it in the Wii for a great time. Don't rent, simply buy, it will be worth your money.

Have you ever wondered how people manage to level so fast that you can't keep up with them. That is because they use leveling strategies that most people don't know about or realize. Some leveling strategies can be common sense and others are well hidden within the game. Here are a few Leveling strategies you can use to improve your gaming performance.

Joana has been the first character to level 60 on 6+ servers. Brian kopp's ALLIANCE leveling guide is basically the same setup as Joana's guide except it is set up for Alliance Characters only.

Both of these guides come with DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS on exactly what steps they used to get to level 70. They both of recorded the whole way to level 70 on video and have speeded the video up so that you can view the whole guide in a big video (3or4 gig's).

I don't know if it's the case with other people, but my stylus does NOT say Mario on it at all, which IMO decreases the value of this kit by a lot! My main reason for buying this is for the stylus that say 'Mario', but all mine says is "Nintendo DS" don't say Mario like the picture shows. I already have a tons of headsets, game holders, screen protectors. Car charger, etc. So I really didn't need everything else. For collecting purposes, the tin box is worth about $5-10, the stylus if it said 'Mario' is worth $10 on it's own I'd say(but again not on mine), everything else $10 together, maybe more than that, but I have most of them already.

I'm more of a simple video game type of person. And i love this game. I remember playing it years ago and still like to take a stab at it every now and then. Love it.

Too Human takes a cyber punk retelling of Norse mythology. Instead of the typical gods that you would expect to see, the Norse gods are cybernetically enhanced humans. You play Baldur, one of their gods. In fact, you are the son of Odin. As the son of Odin, it is your job to keep watch over and protect the human race from an approaching army of machines led by the demented Loki and bent on the destruction of mankind.

There are five classes you can choose to play, but the demo only allows the option to play the Champion. With five choices and only one option, one can feel a little unsure of whether or not to buy this game to make the final decision.

How about trying all of the classes?

Berserker

With the Berserker you will find they favor fast, close-quarters combat. They are the only class in the game that can dual-wield swords or staffs.

Defender

The Defender's job is to be the tank. Massive amounts of armor makes him a perfect beating post to ensure the enemy's attention is on no one but him, so that his allies with less armor can unload their fury upon the enemies around him.

Commando

The Commando is your tactical, long-range combat class. This class can stand in the back and deal out explosions and damage if your defender can keep the attention of all of the enemies before you. If you don't have a defender around, the Commando can summon spiders that have their own array of attacks to distract foes.

Champion

The Champion is your overall balance of armor and damage. He can help the defender manage baddies around him, but can also do his fair share of damage to wipe out anything in front of him.

Bio Engineer

This is the guy who is going to ensure everyone in your group is going to stay alive. With different ways to heal both himself and the party, he is a highly needed addition to any group fighting against the forces of Loki.

"Great," you are thinking. "But how do I get to play all these awesome classes in the demo?" Silicon Knights have not forgotten you, but you are going to have to work for it. They have put this in as an intentional Easter egg for those who want to get as much as they can out of the demo.

To get these classes in the Too Human demo, you need to use a different kind of cheat code.

After you have finished downloading the demo, disconnect your Xbox Live. If you don't do this, then you will not be able to play as any of the other classes except the Champion.

Once you have disconnected from Xbox Live, go to the console settings in your Xbox menu, select the clock setting and change the date to 2009. Xbox Live sets your clock automatically if you are connected.

Now that you have done this, go back into the demo, and you will be able to play the game in the Berserker or the Commando class.

For the Defender or Bio Engineer classes, you need to select the character and over and over as fast as you possibly can for 4 to 5 seconds, and then press either left or right.

I purchased this to protect the smooth shiny finish on my Nintendo DS. I am only using the top cover since I thought the bottom cover made it comfortable to hold the unit. Besides not using the bottom part, this serves it's purpose and you have to admit it is cute with all the Mario Bros characters on it. It does state that you can reuse it after removing it. I have not tried that it yet but it states the adhesive can be become sticky again if you add water to the strips.

This article is for anyone looking to play Pokemon Fire Red or Leaf Green Online. These games are more or less remakes of Pokemon Red, Blue, and Green. The only difference is there are more side quests, trainers, items, and Pokemon. It is definitely worth a replay if you have never played these versions.

If you have a Mystic Ticket you can board a ship to Navel Rock to battle with a Level 70 Lugia and Level 70 Ho-oh. On Birth Island you can fight Deoxy. Depending on your game version it will change Deoxy's appearance. In Fire Red Deoxy has ridiculous strength compared to Leaf Green having ridiculous defense. Either games Deoxy is definitely an asset.

There are a few ways to play these games online from your computer against your friends free. I figured this out of sheer boredom and coincidence. I was playing a rom of Leaf Green from my laptop and my friend was playing Fire Red from his computer. I checked the options of my emulator and discovered it is possible to connect to other computers to battle/trade. It is a common feature on most newer Gameboy emulators.

This option is recommended at your discretion as I deleted all mine for legal safety. It is a form of Internet Piracy. The other option is connecting to your friends directly with the hand held systems and games. Don't get me wrong. This game is fairly easy to get into and goes quick. But calling it Mario Party is wrong. There's not much of a party as it's all single-player action. The "game board" isn't like a board game as it is in the console versions of Mario Party. It's more like the town or land in Super Mario Brothers 3 or Super Mario World. I really enjoyed going around the town and meeting the characters that live there and helping them with their errands. Although, some of the missions were kind of dumb (more thought could have been put into them). The gadgetts earned are just silly. They don't really do much and are a waste of time going through them all. The developers could have spent more time on the actual game play instead of creating these strange things. The game board is fairly easy to move around but running out of mushrooms is frustrating. It seemed that I would always run out of mushrooms right as I was about to finish a mission where I had to go all around the board and back. At least when the game restarts, all of the completed missions are still completed! Overall, this is a very fun game. The main portion of the game goes by really quickly and I wish there was a second "level" to it. I guess thats why you don't get all of the gadgetts in town. You have to buy the rest of the gadgetts from Challenge Land which can take a very long time.

Video games are now held to new standards as of lately due to the recent releases of the new consoles, which makes it even harder for sequels to crowned as a premium title. This would be the case for the newly released Ninja Gaiden 2 for the X-Box 360! As a fan of the 360 one would anticipate the arrival of this game seeing how it's predecessor is hailed to be one of the greatest actions games of it's time. Now Ninja Gaiden 2 does not break ground into some new way to design action games but it does do a great job at being a sequel, and by that last phrase it is meant that it meets all the requirements of the game before it and includes some new aspects to get old and new players into the title and series.

Let's start with the things that Ninja Gaiden 2 does correctly. With the return of popular weapons such as the Dragon Sword, Vigoorian Flails, Windmill Shuriken, and Lunar Staff the game rewards those how have played the first game by giving the a weapon that they are comfortable with and let's new player have a same glimpse into the previous title. The game does not stop there it has given players a handful of new weapons that offer some more than original and creative ways to fight against the hoards of enemies that you will encounter in this adventure. The battle system seemingly unflawed with minor problems in fighting sequences. For example the bases of your combos are a light, quick attack and a harder, slower. No matter which sequence of attacks that you throw at certain enemies they will be simply over thrown and disregarded by the bigger enemies. This not a major problem but can be quite aggregating at times after happening a couple of times in a row.

Another thing that this title does is that it rewards the player for learning combos and pulling off more difficult maneuvers like the izuna drop which will instantly kill an enemy. The button combinations are simple enough to remember but are complex enough so that a novice could not just pick the controller and master these techniques, give the gamer a great sense of accomplishment upon finishing one of these moves. Besides the action packed battle system the boss fights are fantastic. Team Ninja does a great job of making the boss fight monumental. Whether it is achieve by making the bosses enormously huge or by giving them lightning wielding hands they certainly establish that there is always a slim to zero chance that you will be walking out of these fights alive, which make player feel great after beating any boss. The best and newest edition to the game is the new obliteration system that has been added. This system enables the player finish off enemies after severing a limb from an enemy in a quite flavorful and theatrical sequence.

Let's Alright, now that we have pointed out what is good about the game, we must bring you the bad. Now this lovely hack and slash title does have a few speed bumps on it's highway to greatness. The first and probably most important is the story. While the story is not horrible it does hold this game back from being a triple "A" title not to be forgotten. Titles like these generally don't have nor need an immense story but the story in Ninja Gaiden 2 fails to attach the player to any of the characters in the game except Ryu. This plot makes sense but stretches from fighting human ninjas in present day Japan to fighting an ancient greater fiend on top of the Statue of Liberty and continues to drop our ninja friend in vast parts of the earth and some parts that may not be on earth, leaving the gamer to wonder how in the world did this ninja get to this destination.

In addition to the weird and uncompelling story the music is lack luster and faintly in the background of the vibrant action taking place on the screen and hardly makes the player feel enraged and ready to kick butt. The last thing about the game that is a bit frustrating is the fact that the game rarely rewards you outside of the X-Box live achievements (which pretty much don't do anything) the game doesn't offer any special weapons, items or combo for your extracurricular exploration except for the non profitable crystals skulls which do absolutely do nothing.

Overall

These few flaws are not enough to stop the addicting fun of hacking ninja limbs to pieces and obliterating beast and machines with the mere commands of your buttons. Any fan of game play should pick this title up. This title lives up to the expectations of it's predecessors but doesn't go above and beyond, an daunting task to ask of any game, with all facts considered this game Ninja Gaiden 2 an illustrious...

Mostly, I bought this pack for the longer stylus and with the very low hopes that maybe there would be a way to attach the new stylus to the left side as I'm left-handed. As I figured, the holder still can only be attached on the right since unfortunately, it does connect by the current stylus slot. No matter though, the longer stylus in this pack is much easier to use if you have bigger hands, more like a pen or pencil with the exception of the circular picture of Mario on the end. The game cases are also very nice and fit DS games securely. The additional stickers you can put on the stylus instead of Mario, but even though I like Luigi better, I just don't have the heart to cover up Mario.

Why am I saying this well the developers of the famous online role-playing computer game Final Fantasy XI seemed to have borrowed the idea from Emmy-winning South Park episode "Make Love, No Warcraft" by updating the game with one of the longest, most physically demanding video game fights ever. The latest downloadable update for the computer video game is a boss monster named "Pandemonium Warden" in which several high-level avatars wailed on the creature nonstop for 18 hours straight and no scratch on the beast.

This seemingly unbeatable boos will not prevent people from completing the computer game. Though persistent online game don't end the same way a normal single player game does. The has sparked debate as to what exactly the develops at square-Enix expect out of their devoted fan bass. As a result message board all over the place have lite up with players being less then satisfied with the new upgrade. Loved this game on the old Nintendo system 15 years ago, and it is exactly the same. Brings back old memories!

Mario is portrayed in games and entertainment as a kind-hearted, brave hero with with a love of pasta and pizza. Mario games, on the whole, have sold more than 290 million units on the last count, making the series the best-selling of all time. But just who is this chap and where did he come from?

Mario has appeared in over two hundred video games since he was created way back in 1981 and has since, taken on the role of Nintendo's mascot and has been a huge selling point together with lots of top selling merchandise. He is of course part of the hugely successful Nintendo wii currently taking the world by storm.

The little chap is depicted as a short, pudgy happy-go-lucky Italian plumber who lives in the Mushroom Kingdom, where he is very much seen and treated as a hero best known for constantly thwarting the plans of the evil King Bowser to kidnap Princess Peach and take over the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario's cheerful personality is reflected in his high pitched voice and of course we only hear short phrases like, "Okey dokey" but we all know his voice.

Although his outfit usually changes to suit whichever game he is in, Mario's basic appearance has changed little over the years since he first appeared in the arcade game Donkey Kong where I believe he was a character named Jumpman. He was later used in other genres such as the educational game Mario Paint, appearing in 1992 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), and Mario Pinball Land for the Game Boy Advance.

Mario's creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, apparently once said that Mario wears a cap simply because he finds it difficult to draw hair! I don't know how true that is but it is a nice, little interesting point regarding a hugely successful character who is still selling extremely well worldwide.

More than a decade later, the system is still going strong. How did the Game Boy successfully compete--and in some cases bury--an onslaught of faster, more powerful handheld and home console systems? Let us count the ways: affordability, a huge library of games that consistently made the most of the hardware's limitations, smart power management that extended battery life, and uncluttered controls. Now the Game Boy Advance (or GBA as its already being called) comes to us with power that would have been unthinkable back in the day. The portable's 32-bit RISC CPU runs circles around the former's 8-bit workhorse, allowing it to process program instructions much faster. What that means to everyday gamers is more intricate visuals, more simultaneous movement on the screen, and better sound. In fact, the often-annoying beeps and boops of old-school Game Boy titles are being replaced with digitized stereo sound. The extra processing muscle also means you can network up to four Game Boy Advance units together, via the communication cable, for multiplayer fun on one shared cartridge. Only two Game Boy Color units could link together, and each unit had to have a copy of the game.

What's not being replaced, however, is the wide selection of Game Boy games. Since the Game Boy Advance system is backward compatible, it will play its own line of colorful games--like such launch titles as Super Mario Advance, F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, Army Men Advance, High Heat Major League Baseball 2002, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2--as well as all the monochrome and color games that have already been released for the previous Game Boy systems (nearly 500 of them in total). Players can view the older games in their smaller, originally square dimensions or, with the touch of the shoulder button, expand the game to fit the GBA's larger screen. We tried enlarging the screen on a Game Boy Color edition of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and found that Mr. Hawk was much easier to see.

When you first pick up the system, you'll wonder how they got it to be so incredibly lightweight. At a little less than 5 ounces and a little larger than a deck of playing cards, the system easily fits into a shirt pocket without any sag. The GBA's wider shape fits better into a wider range of hands. The former design too often pushed the left and right thumb knuckles together during game play. The new layout should be comfortable for all ages, and the center screen orientation makes it easy to see.

Game Boy Color owners will find the GBA's larger screen somewhat darker than they're used to, but that's because the screen is outfitted with antiglare technology. Like the old Game Boy Color, the color LCD is not backlit, so you need pretty good light to play by. Unlike that system, though, you won't be craning your neck and tilting the unit to see around the hot-spot reflection of the light bulb in your screen.

But you'll also notice the graphics. Sporting what's basically a redesigned SNES technology, you'll see things on the GBA that the big consoles do, such as scaling (making objects larger or smaller) and rotation effects--technological advances that will affect the look of everything from crossing a finish line to throwing a touchdown pass to crawling through a dungeon.

Some might argue that Nintendo could have tried to put even more power into this Game Boy Advance. After all, the 32-bit video game had its heyday more than five years ago. Perhaps, but after handling this new handheld, we're inclined to think that Nintendo wisely struck a balance between size, price, and power consumption. And considering how well the old 8-bit system weathered the decade's technological storms, we think the Game Boy Advance is here to stay, and we're glad. --Porter B. Hall

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past five years, you know all about the Halo franchise of games. Halo 1 propelled the original Xbox onto the scene as a major competitor to PlayStation 2 and put a whole new spin on first person shooters. Halo 2 builds upon the foundation of Halo 1, expanding gameplay, improving graphics, and continuing the story of Master Chief and the battle for civilization. Halo 3 was the flagship game for Xbox 360, grossing nearly $200 million in sales on the first day it was released and has now sold over 8 million copies.

And now comes Halo wars. The latest game from Bungee and Ensemble Studios is expected to hit the shelves in late 2008 or early 2009 with much anticipation.

Why Halo Wars, and not Halo 4? Well Halo Wars is a patently different game than its predecessors. While the first three Halo games were first-person shooters, having you take on the role of Master chief, Halo Wars is a game of real-time strategy. Think traditional first-person shooter meets World of Warcraft. Needless to say, the overall gaming experience is going to be a lot different with Halo Wars. You'll be able to control and command armies, send them to do battle, or protect your bases.

Will all the die hard Halo fans be receptive to this new type of game? I think it is safe to say most of them will at least give it a shot, as all the familiar characters and vehicles will be featured in Halo Wars, such as scorpion tanks, UNSC Marines, and the Warthog. Expect some new, unfamiliar character as well.

The developers of Halo wars are trying to garner a new set of gaming fans, those who may be hardcore into real-time strategy games like Starcraft or World of Warcraft. It may be difficult to win over these fans, as there are already a couple of well established real-time strategy franchises that have a very devoted fan base. Nonetheless, with the popularity of previous Halo games, many of these fans are likely to be intrigued by halo wars. The designers know this and are going out of their way to make a Halo Wars the most talked about strategy game of the year.

While we all wait in anticipation of the game's release, there is not much we can do other than speculate about the ins-and-outs of Halo Wars. The good news is, Ensemble Studios has released a Halo Wars gameplay video to give you an idea of the games action. It's not much, but it will holdover the hard-core fans until we can play the game ourselves.

This is where it all began, folks. Many of us who grew up in the 80's remember this game fondly, because back then, we didn't have as big of a gaming selection as we do today. We only had a few games, and Super Mario Bros. was one of them. You know what though? People seem to think we must have had it rough back then, only having a few games available for the NES in the mid 80's. Not much in the way of variety. But the truth (the HONEST truth) is this- the smaller choices we had, the more we appreciated the few games we had, unlike today where games seem to be designed with the intention of sucking out as much storyline elements as possible and quickly moving on to the next game. Back in the day we didn't play games like that. We waited patiently for a new groundbreaking gaming experience to take us by surprise, and it seemed like a few new amazing things happened every year. Really, do people even care as much about video games today? It's not like new, groundbreaking features are coming along (except for the Wii and that amazing Nintendo controller, but nothing revolutionary concerning the GAMES themselves are being made anymore). No, back in the mid 80's, small platform games laid the foundation for what soon was to come. Every single year sparked a new innovation. The first Super Mario Bros. was popular, fun, and playable for just about anyone, and THAT is what matters most of all. It mattered back then, and it matters now. The object is to just blow through the short levels collecting mushrooms, coins, and finding the best way to deal with the amazing enemies throughout the levels. The fact that the game features water and castle levels shows that Nintendo was really on to something huge back then, and they would continue to make one quality game after another. From a vintage Nintendo console system from over 20 years ago we have compiled a list of the top 10 Original Nintendo games ever. This is between Sound, Graphics (all 8-bit obviously), Story, Box/Instruction Art, and Replay Value. There are many great games that got cut off from the list but don't count them out.

Sometimes games made it on the list due to other reasons such as popularity or other innovative aspects. Here is the the list of Top 10 Original Nintendo NES games.

#10 - Duck Hunt

Duck Hunt is one of the only few games that uses the Light Gun successfully. The game features the basic modes of 1-Duck, 2-Ducks, Clay Shooting, and in some remakes Dog Shooting Mode. For sharing the title of "First NES Game" automatically puts it on the list.

#9 - Bubble Bobble

The Story was two dragons Bub and Bob have to rescue their girlfriends by traveling through this dungeon defeating enemies with their bubbles. Sounds good enough to me plus the catchy/annoying repetitive music. The Bubble Bobble song has been remade by The Advantages "NES Cover Band" in a perfect 8-bit fashion. The game also features a second question with two alternative endings. One bad ending and one good ending.

#8 - Tecmo Bowl

One of the earliest successful Football games on a Console platform. This game set the bar for all sports games of late 80's - early 90's. The game was overall solid for being packed in an 8-bit Cartridge. The music was flawless and the game had remarkable replay value for it's time. Future installment was Tecmo Superbowl another hit.

#7 - Metroid

Side scrolling Puzzle/Action at it's best. It was one of the only Metroid games to feature a Password screen due to no technology for memory saves (like Zelda). The only reason Metroid was successful was because it was released prior to Kid Icarus. Any other time and we might have seen Super Kid Icarus or Kid Icarus Prime. Maybe not but it might have switches the two series popularity. It was always fun collecting the innovative items in this game. The abilities and finding all the secrets were fun aspects of the game.

#6 - Super Mario Bros. 1

No this game did not make the list just because it was the first NES release or the first Mario title. It made the list because it introduced the story that went with all video games. A hero must adventure to save a princess from a great evil. In this case Mario must travel through 8 worlds (32 levels) to rescue Princess Toadstool from King Bowser. Later renamed Princess Peach.

Also note Super Mario Bros. 2 (Japan) when released was believed too difficult for Americans and later released as Mario Bros. Lost Levels (North America). The Japanese version of the North American Super Mario Bros. 2 is Doki Doki Panic. All this since Super Mario Bros. 2 didn't make the list.

#5 - Punch-Out

From Glass Joe all the way to Mr. Dream or Mike Tyson this game is high action fun. Since by the later matches it's very easy to get a Game Over. Each Boxer has their own personality that any NES player has to love. Macho Man, Soda Popinski, Von Kaiser, and Bald Bull to name some players favorites.

The replay value has always been great for this game because it's difficult to refuse a rematch. Along the way it's easy to pick up shortcuts. All this adds to the overall value of the game. It has a balanced music selection that blends in perfectly. Lil Mac you did it again.

#4 - The Legend of Zelda

The Legend begins with this series. Where Link must travel through 8 dungeons eventually find his way to Death Valley. While collecting a wide variety of items. The series was founded and evolved off these original ideas. It is a very big icon for paving the way for future puzzle/adventure role playing games. Future Zelda games have strayed away from the Pig form of Ganon and make him resemble a man or Bull.

#3 - Kirby's Adventure

The main character was always a lovable copycat puffball. He gains his abilities by swallowing enemies sometimes whole. Kirby must restore order to Dreamland from King Dedede and the Nightmare. In this game alone he can possess any one of 25 abilities. Also Crane Fever, Quick Draw, and Egg Catcher Mini Games. If you beat the game you unlock a Boss Mini Game. It is a lot of fun for all packed in one game.

#2 - Mega Man 2

If any one Mega Man game made the list it would definitely be this one. A solid selection of music, stages, bosses, and abilities. The Dr. Wily stages feel like an Epic battle as well. For anyone that remembers the first Dr. Wily stage. The boss fight against the dragon can be very difficult if you don't know what you're doing. In the end of the game you are rewarded to learn that Dr. Wily is actually an alien and there are no more games in the series. Just kidding.

#1 - Super Mario Bros. 3

This game makes #1 just about every time I look on a NES Top 10. This was the highest selling NES game ever disregarding Super Mario Bros. 1 since it was included with the console. Super Mario Bros. 3 was also bundled with the console sometimes but it was the highest selling overall "sold separately". That makes a statement about this games popularity. Easily making it #1 on the Top 10 list of Best Nintendo Entertainment System games.

Nintendo sends its' stars back to the ballpark(s) in Mario Super Sluggers and this time around the Wii controls are in effect. The batting is just plain fun, a cock back power swing or a swish in the air at the pitch prove effective and the power ups make you want to try each one out at the very least. The unlockable fields and characters come easily as you go through the single player challenge mode which introduces new gameplay elements with completion of various scout missions etc..The mario kart style items make the action on the field all the more frenzied as defense becomes tougher and yet more accesible than ever thanks to the robust but simple controls. The pitching is fun and while limited has enough strategy to keep you hurling. The various control settings are nice for the kids but nunchuck and wiimote setting is where its at for most of the game.(minigames being the exception) After I beat bowser and had played through challenge mode, however I wanted more and going back to the minigames only added so much replay value. If you have a buddy who gets as good as you are you might find ALOT of replay value here but for single player you might find yourself looking for a little more gameplay after the amazingly fun challenge mode is over. Some in game trading cards and player specific items would have made this a little bit deeper of an excercise as would a slightly more fufilling swing and pitch system. Still I liked being able to use my Mii in the minigames and in exhibition games as well. Overall MSS gets it mostly right and is a ton of fun while it lasts.

I am having a great time playing this game. To the people complaining about the controls, use a nunchuk. It gives you more control. I really wouldn't want to stand up and swing for 9 innings. I like the motion controls they way they are. They work well. The fielding is great. The base running is intuitive. Most importantly the baseball itself is really fun and well done. The characters are great, the items are cool and the start powers are fun. I like the close-play cut screens. The story mode is thrown in for fun. It lets you get to know and unlock all of the characters/players. The real fun is exhibition. No season mode ... no online play. Could have benefited from both in my opinion. That is the only reason for this game not to have 5 stars imo.

Since Nintendo makes video games for people of all ages, not all of them are appropriate across the board. Parents need to be careful about what video games they expose their children to. Some people won't let their young child play a certain game but they allow them to watch others playing it. That isn't a concept that makes too much sense.

For many parents who don't play the games too often though they may not realize what is on them. While many of them are fun they can contain graphic materials that you may not want your children exposed to. Some parents are afraid that playing certain games can lead to criminal behaviors and aggression. This is a fear that the media has put into parents though due to playing video games being used as a defense when children do commit various types of crimes in our society.

In order to make sure parents know exactly what their children are playing, they have accepted the universal game rating system. This is on the box for every game as well as on the instructions and even on the label to the game itself. Should your children be trying to get you to buy them a certain game you can even look online to see what rating it has before you commit to doing so.

The Nintendo Wii rating that people are the most familiar with is the E for everyone. This means that regardless of your age or maturity level you will enjoy playing that particular game. Generally though it does mean that the game is able to be played by children at least six years of age.

For the younger consumers there are ratings of EC. This means Early Childhood so realistically children three years of age and older can play them. It is very likely that those about six years of age will find them to be boring and too simple. Still, if you have small children who want to be part of the Nintendo Wii buzz in your home it is nice to offer some games that they can play on their own.

You won't find too many games out there for the Wii that are rated A for adults only. The rating of M for mature is very common though. According to this rating system that generally means for those over 17 years of age. Parents have the room to make this decision though. They may feel that their child who is only 14 is mature enough to play certain games. That is a decision for the parents to evaluate on a game by game basis though.

There is a T rating which is for Teens from about 13 to 17 though. You will find Nintendo markets many games in this age group due to the demographics of their consumers. You can be comfortable letting your children play these games as they aren't full of violence but have plenty of action and graphics to keep them happy.

Occasionally you may see a rating of RP which means Rating Pending. Generally though Nintendo is very good about getting a rating on their games before releasing them. The company as a whole is very family oriented so they don't want to be involved in any controversial issues. However, parents need to carefully evaluate video games that are RP before they decide if their children can play them or not.

With the Nintendo Wii games you can put a lock on your gaming console. This means to be able to play certain games a code has to be given. So even if you have games in your home that you have told your kids not to play they can't do so even if they are tempted. It is important to realize though that if you are using backwards compatible games from the Nintendo DS or the GameCube that these codes won't keep them out.

Everyone loves music. Or, at least likes it. Listening to music is one thing, but have you ever though of "riding" it? Dylan Fitterer has created great way of doing so, and its called Audiosurf.

Audiosurf is an independently developed game for the PC that is digitally distributed by Valve Corp. (Steam). The player chooses a song and "rides". The game loads up a track and chooses the background color that best suite the tempo, volume, and overall sound of the song selected. For example, if you were to choose the song "The Rockafeller Skank" by Fat Boy Slim, then chances are the system will choose to use a white background, because the song is very upbeat. Playing something like "Idealistic" by Digitalism, which is a lot darker and "bassier", for lack of a better term, will more then likely come up in a black background. The previously stated is the most amazing part of playing Audiosurf. The fact that you can choose to play any song you have on your computers hard drive and the track will change to better suite the song.

The amazing mechanics don't end there. Another amazing thing the track will do while playing is change the angle of the slope you're continuing down. If there's a part in the song that is slower or quieter, the slope angle upwards. If the song has a section where there is a lot going on, or the tempo increases, then the track will slope downwards and move much faster.

There are many different modes to try out in Audiosurf. Each one is filled with blocks called "cars". These cars are traveling in the opposite direction as your car. If you're playing in the Mono mode, then the cars will either be grey or coloured. Your objectives in this mode are to avoid making contact with the grey cars and collect as many coloured ones as possible. If you're playing in any other mode, then your objective is to collect coloured cars in groups of 3 in order to wipe them off the track and gain points.

Audiosurf does a good job of keeping its players happy. Every week, Dylan will release a few playable tracks for everyone to use. This causes some automatic competition among the online players. Scores for these songs and any others you play are posted online as long as you are connected and logged in, so everyone will always be reaching for that #1 spot. There are also achievements implemented into the game that are also fun to go after when you're looking for a challenge.

Audiosurf not only excels in the area of audio, but visually it's just as good. With a decent graphics card and the settings turned to max, watching Audiosurf is almost as much fun as playing it. Every time your car hits another, a firework-like explosion of what ever color you hit will go off in the background. This makes the game a real visual pleasure.

Overall

With new content every week plus what ever new music you pick up, you will never get bored of this game. With its great range and low price, Audiosurf is a must have for any one who is into games like Guitar Hero or even F-Zero, along with anyone who just loves music.

This game if played alone is absolutly no fun. Like the title says "Party" so have a bunch of friends over and play the game. Either play for fun or compete with them, either way its fun. Gameplay: its as simple as hitting A to hit the dice block and the controls for the mini games are explained. I have no run into problems with controls. Graphics: Great just that simple. Overall: Great game but if you play alone you will get bored. If in a party you will be occupied for awhile. All and all the game is a good buy.

This is cool since it has the 8-player mode, it does not go day-night like Mario Party 6, it had Birdo, and Dry Bones as new characters and it has a fantastic 8 Player mini-game mode and 8 player mini-games awsome. There is a deluxe solo mode, it takes place on a ship, this is the first Mario Party to have Toadworth. This was the mini-game mid level and it does not have mini-games that are that hard. This is the second M. Party and it is the last to have the microphone which is being Mario Party 8 is for the new Wii. The characters are sent on a cruise ship around the world and Koopa Kid is not available as a character anymore. The blue, red, and green Koopa Kids are out of this and has a less great solo mode. This mini-game mode doesn't have as many great ioptions that 6 had, the courses were cool including a Bowser course you unlock in solo mode. In order to do so, you need to do a really hard mini-game in the solo mode finale. Grade: B+

So you've been playing through your Real-Time Strategy games and are starting to get bored with the same thing over and over. You want something bigger, better, more complex. Well, Gas Powered Games has given us Supreme Commander, an RTS of unprecedented scale. And I mean enormous; you don't make a base of a few buildings, you use dozens, and hundreds more in resources farms. You don't build a couple tanks and send them to wipe out the enemy. You build strategic missiles and long-range artillery to soften up the enemy, then move your army of 200 units into their base. Supreme Commander (popularly called SupCom) is unbelievably large, and sets a new standard for RTS.

The story takes place in 3844 A.D., after humans have colonized much of the galaxy. After several events, three factions emerge: the United Earth Federation, trying to restore order to the galaxy; the Cybran nation, a group of human-AI cyborgs trying to liberate their brethren; and the Aeon Illuminate, humans taught "The Way" by an alien race and trying to spread their beliefs throughout the rest of mankind. You start in any battle with an Armored Command Unit or ACU. This is the base unit, and allows you to begin construction of all other units and buildings.

The ACU is supported by engineers, who can build more buildings but at a slower pace. Air, land, and naval factories produce units, while mass extractors and power generators produce resources. Mass is used in the building process, and energy is used to run buildings and units. Resources are stockpiled in storage, but if you run out, you don't stop building. The more resources you use that you don't actually have, the slower you produce units and buildings. Factories can be upgraded from Tech 1 to Techs 2 and 3, allowing production of better units and better engineers, who can build higher level buildings.

Overall, each faction can produce around 30-40 different unit types and around the same number of different buildings. At a low level, each faction's units perform about the same, but at the higher levels they diversify. Each faction also gets three unique experimental units which can easily turn the tide of battle, but are very expensive to produce.

SupCom's single-player campaign gives each of the three factions six missions. While it doesn't seem like much, each mission expands several times, and can last several hours. In the first few, the player is confined to low level units, which can prove quite boring. The only way to defeat your enemy is to build large numbers of units and continually throw them at the enemy. In the last two missions, you gain access to Tech 3 units and buildings, allowing you to come up with your own strategies. The skirmish and multiplayer modes make up for this, with many maps and options to play with. The maps range in size from 5km x 5km to 81km x 81km. The largest maps are perhaps the biggest even seen in RTS, and can take many hours to complete. SupCom also has in all probability the most nuclear explosions per round in any game. To win, you must destroy the enemy's ACU, which explodes in a nuclear fashion. Nuclear missiles are also the best way to destroy the enemy's base. However, every attack has a defense, and nuclear missiles can be stopped.

So, if you are experienced with RTS's and are looking for something more, check out Supreme Commander. It does have a steep learning curve, so I would only recommend it for experienced players. The scale is enormous, and allows players to come up with multiple strategies so that no game ever plays the same way. For those tired of traditional RTS's, SupCom brings a whole new definition and level of play.

Six years. Six long years we've had to wait for a new Mario game, and finally it's here. And even considering the ridiculously unfair expectations, Super Mario Sunshine is almost entirely as good as you'd hope and expect.

The premise of the game is that Mario's tropical holiday is ruined when he's stitched up by an evil look-alike for daubing graffiti all over the island. Rather conveniently, there's a water pump waiting for him to use, which not only washes away the mess but also doubles as a handy jet pack. The jet pack aspect means that whenever you fall off something you have the chance to immediately recover. This built-in safety net means the game can afford to be far more ambitious in its level design than ever before, with massive levels filled with trampolines, tightropes, water-powered windmills, huge coral reefs, and mountains and mountains of platforms.

The whole thing looks amazing, too, with the most realistic water ever seen in a video game, and a near-infinite draw distance. On top of all this are rideable, fruit-juice-spewing Yoshis, extra water nozzles, super-hardcore platform levels where Shadow Mario nicks your jet pack, and goop-generating bosses who seem to live to make Princess Peach's laundry a nightmare.

After the sweet but rather short pleasures of Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin, you need have no fear that Mario Sunshine is of a similarly brief nature. There are a total of 120 shines to collect--the same number of stars as in Super Mario 64--and the game world is at least as large and far more interactive. This is without question the best game on the GameCube yet. That may be no more than you'd expect from a Mario game, but it's certainly more than most of us mere mortals deserve. --David Jenkins

I'm glad to see that people have still been reviewing this game recently. I'm always a system behind, but I always buy Nintendo. I just bought a gamecube and this game. Let me tell you this. Super Mario Sunshine is one of the most frustrating creations I've ever been invited to partake in. At times it seems like the game was designed to make me break my controller and buy a new one. If I hadn't grown up on Mario, and if this were the first video game I'd ever played, I would never want to play another one for the rest of my life. I concur with everything the other reviewers have said about the controls and the camera. You're constantly fighting the buttons to get where you already know you need to be. It's sometimes tedious, often mind numbingly repetitive, and almost always keeping your blood at a steady boil. That may very well be the genius in the game. You CAN NOT put this thing down. It's brilliant, funny, creative, and fun. It's also evil, sadistic, and more than willing to make you spend 3 hours on a level that will take you 3 minutes to complete in the long run. I don't know how a game for children ended up this difficult, but I begrudgingly give it 4 stars. It's completely brilliant, and it's also the most frustrating game I've ever played in my life. i rented this game out one time because it looked fun. you know, you have to find mario and save him. as soon as it showed the part where mario dissapears, it takes you to a dungeon with around 5 or 6 doors. you can go in them in any order. whenever you go in it, you come out of a pipe and you are in a city. when you come off the pipe there is one of those things that yoshi eats on the pipe so you cant go back in the dungeon until you get yoshi. this game also teaches you some stuff in each place you go too. the golden gate bridge, the eiffel tower, etc. the only dissapointing thing about this game is you cant get hurt! its (and i really mean it) physically impossible to lose! sure its cool you cant die, but it takes all the fun out of it. you need a challenge instead of just winning. however there is a slight challenge. in the city, there is nowhere to go mainly, it all *leads* to a dead end. there are those paratroopa things running around and on some of them if you step on it theyll drop something but i dont want to spoil it. but i gotta tell you this part about the paratroopas and all is CHALLENGING!!! if you are thinking of buying this game, its ok so make sure you dont spend too much on it

I really like this game (much more than i liked paper mario). the only complaint i have is the lack of saving opportunities. this is a fun little game by nintendo, very well put together. it's a pretty diverse game too, for the less-than-diverse game that is tennis. a lot of different matches to play, different modes / minigames, lots of different opponents to beat. it's a pretty easy game to beat, even a very mediocre gamer like myself is able to finish it in a few weeks. what is not cool about this game is the extremely tedious and boring rpg, the endless annoying conversation between matches that you can not skip, but have to plow your way through. aaarghhhhhh it sucks! another minor point is that some of the power shots are almost impossible to see coming, let alone block, and can only be countered by using a defensive powershot. and why can opponents do curve shots all the time, but we can not? other than that, this is one of my favorite games on the gba, still the greatest little system available, with an unbeatable catalogue.

Mario Bros is were you run around kicking turtles crabs and some other things out of pipes. This is so much fun and it's better that the Super Mario game by a long shot. I like the Super Mario game, but this will always be better! Get, you won't be sorry.

Mario and Luigi are one of the best games ever invented back in the eighties and its still a great game to this day. It use to be that you can only find these two adventurous brothers on Nintendo systems, but today you can find Mario and Luigi online games all over the internet. Its great that you can play the same game that first developed back in the eighties. Dont get me wrong the new games are fun, but nothing compares to the first game.

I use to play Mario and Luigi all of the time with my brother when we were younger. And about six months ago I was searching for a game online and came across Mario and Luigi online. I felt like a little kid again, and my three kids and me played this game for hours. They were so excited to find a game that I had when I was little. It was exactly the same as the traditional video games. I truly felt like I was a kid again myself, which is always a great feeling.

Mario and Luigi online games are great to play on the computer. The graphics are much better then they were but its still the same game that it always was. The reason is that they recreated it and the graphic cards that computers have now only make every little detail much more visible.

Online games have nearly every game that you can possibly imagine. Besides just Mario and Luigi. You can find Tetris, which is another one of my personal favorites. Some of the other games that you can expect to find will be Pac Man, and Streetfighter, and hundreds of others to choose from. There are literally hours of fun that you will have playing the games. You can even find some of the classic arcade games that you played in the arcade when you were a child as well.

If you want to find Mario and Luigi online games then all you have to do is perform a quick search on one of the major search engines such as google or yahoo, and you will have no problem finding a ton of different websites that have it. It really is that simple. And you will soon be having the time of your life especially if you were playing this game when you were a kid back in the eighties.

Customer Review: Has the typical flaws of Mario sports titles, but fun and unique game nonetheless
Anyone who played Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars knows that Nintendo/Square Enix collaborations can result in absolutely amazing games. Unfortunately, there haven't been too many since then, but Square Enix reunites with Nintendo once again for the Nintendo DS game, Mario Hoops 3-On-3. Mario Hoops was initially intended to be an original intellectual property of Square's, but you'd never be able to tell from the final product-every facet of the Mario universe and its sports spinoffs permeates throughout this game's entirety. As with Mario Kart, Mario Strikers, Mario Tennis and the like, there's the option of initiating unbeatable super-goals if you're fast enough or in the clear, gimmicky courses to play on and of course that notorious item-induced chaos that can rapidly and randomly turn the tide of a game. The big gimmick of Mario Hoops 3-On-3 is its (intended) control setup-you dribble, pass, and shoot the ball with taps, sweeps and swishes of the stylus. This may sound fun or unique, but unfortunately it really only ends up being so in practice mode, because in the heat of an actual game, you won't be able to control your team as efficiently as you'd like with such wonky controls. The DS is top-heavy enough as it is, but having to hold the entire console AND properly operate the D-pad with your non-dominant hand while using the stylus with your right just makes for awkward, uncomfortable control settings, unless you're resting the DS against a solid surface-play for just a few minutes and you'll find your hands getting sore. Thankfully you have the option of playing the game with buttons, which is significantly easier and the manner in which I decided to play pretty much throughout the whole game. While I was perfectly content playing the game with buttons, it is a bit disappointing that the game's big gimmick ended up falling completely flat, and I have a feeling will with most other players. Another control issue is the setup of the Special Shot-a super shot which goes straight for the hoop and can only be executed if a certain symbol (different for each character) is tapped out twice on the touch screen. Even while playing with buttons, this is the only way to execute a Special Shot. As a result, you'll only end up using Special Shots about as often as you would Mega Strikes in the Mario Strikers games (not very), possibly even less so. This is too bad, because the Special Shot animations are some of the most pleasing and exciting visuals in the game; but thankfully for pure aesthetics' sake there's a `Challenges' mode in which you can practice using each character's Special Shot. An issue that recurs consistently in Mario sports titles is the utter lack of effort your teammates make to help you at all unless you're in direct control of them-while you're controlling the one character who has the ball, the other two will run around randomly or not move at all, making zilch effort to defend against the CPU's persistent offense; because of this, you should really only pass the ball if a teammate is relatively nearby, or you could toss it right into the hands of an opponent. While this may sound like a lot of griping, the gameplay itself is pretty fun-you select a team of three to lead you through an exhibition (VS. match) or tourney (1-player mode) of basketball games. You can dribble, pass the ball, execute slam dunks or try to make a shot from far away, and perform various defensive moves when the opposing team is in possession of the ball. As previously explained, these moves are all much simpler when performed with buttons-you press B to dribble, Y or A to pass left or right, and X to shoot when in possession of the ball; you can press B to attempt a steal or use items, Y or A to sidestep left or right, or X to jump or block when you don't have the ball. There are also advanced tactics, such as charging the ball to increase the likelihood of your shot going in when further away, or jump-steals, which allow you to knock the ball away just as the opposition is attempting to make a basket. Both fortunately and unfortunately, items are the wild card-and as with other Mario titles, some of them are a bit overpowered and make for unfair or unexpected happenings in the gameplay. Lightning makes everyone else on the court fall, Spiny Shells home in on the ball and create a massive explosion (meaning there is no way of avoiding it unless you attempt to make a shot before it hits), and Stars grant complete and total invincibility for a surprisingly long period of time, basically allowing the user a free shot. You'll have to be particularly careful that the AI opponents don't get ahold of some of these devastating items, because they tend to bolt after them the moment they appear, particularly on higher difficulty levels. In the 1-player tourney, you'll go through Cups in a very Mario Kart-like fashion, and beating all three of the tourney's games wins you a trophy; to win gold or silver trophies as opposed to bronze, you must not just win, but win by a specific margin of points-which is very easy at first but progressively more difficult as you go on. Thankfully, unlike some other Mario sports titles, for the most part, the CPU opponents rarely reach that obnoxious level of cheap, outrageous difficulty that can leave a player too frustrated to go on, although once you start playing some of the Cups on Hard, some of your opponents are a little too precise with their shooting and stealing, and as previously mentioned, the item-induced chaos and court hazards can just plain be too much to keep track of, especially if you're playing with the stylus and can't sweep or swish fast enough. Graphically, the game is actually very impressive-this could have easily been an N64 title, as nearly all of the background scenery is vivid and colorful, and some of the extra aesthetic tidbits are a pure joy to behold. The game is also blessed with an excellent soundtrack, with great, exciting beats to bump along to while you're dashing down the court. Arguably the game's greatest asset is its massive plethora of hidden goodies and unlockables-there are 11 hidden characters, 4 hidden courts and a multitude of alternate character costumes and ball colors to unveil throughout the gameplay. One of the biggest draws is the addition of the Final Fantasy characters-you can unlock White Mage, Black Mage, Ninja, Moogle and Cactuar as playable characters, all of whom are very fun to play but unfortunately all also require relatively exhaustive tasks to be completed before you can unlock them. I have yet to give the wireless multiplayer a try, but I have a feeling it's exactly the same as other DS games' wireless or download play (and no, you can't play locally or online; you can only play against friends in the immediate vicinity who also have DS consoles). Overall, it's a nice DS game, and arguably the best Mario sports title on a handheld console so far; however, its replay value is slim once you've completed all or most of the Cups, and in my opinion to really be able to enjoy the game, you have to get used to playing it with buttons. Ultimately, it's a fun (albeit gimmicky) sports title.

This game is simply awesome. You can combine all sorts of characters to be on a team, and with extensive touch screen usage, you can use all sorts of sweet moves. A special bonus is that you get to use a few Final Fantasy characters in the mix, which give the game a special twist. This game definately deserves 5 stars!
